RE: [AlpacaTalk] RE: Maiden mom and new cria
Thanks, Janice. Rita is doing well, Her Igg came back 400……….so she had a plasma transfer, today. She is doing well…..up to 14.4 so I am confident we are on the right track. She is urinating normally and feeling good. Nursing and napping and bouncing a little. I am thrilled with her.
Her sire is a beautiful rose gray Legacy son……and I had really hoped for rose gray, but she is a beautiful color and I am happy she is alive and well. Her mom is well, also. My four moms and their crias are together in the barn and everyone is playing Auntie to Rita.
I don’t know a lot about the Igg testing, and I don’t have time right now to check it out, but 400 seems low to me…….and the vet recommended it, so we did it.

<<< We are done for the year....3 girls out of 4 crias born. Three
white and one light brown. If we can keep her happy and healthy, all will
be right with the world.>>>
Congrats Laura! 3 out 4 girls - outstanding!. And hopefully little
Rita will be just fine.
Nerve racking to be sure. We missed an entire year; I only really have
one good breeding pair and my female didn't produce a cria this year as
expected and hoped for. It has stayed so hot so long that only
yesterday did I allow them to join one another for a little romp. They
were very happy to be together again; this pair really adore one
another. They were so sweet nuzzling on each other. I'll try again
in a week to see if there is still interest, but for now they are back
in their own pastures. My matriarch won't have anything to do with this
boy, and my other female - now 2yo, is his dtr, so that won't work :-(.
A real shame as she is such a sweet disposition and is such a beauty I
would love to see some babies from her.
Keep us updated on Rita.
Janice
