Oh, one more thing just came to mind, and it should have been obvious to me. Get some sort of fly/lice/insect treatment, either an herbal one. or something like Cylence or Atroban or something like that, and spray it on the are where you've seen the eggs.

I'd be careful of the actual umbilicus until it's good and dry and sealed, though.
