We bought a new place and will be moving around the end of October. Most of the property we bought has been used as an alfalfa field. So it is about 95% alfalfa and 5% grass and weeds. We have been mowing and mowing the alfalfa every few days in an attempt to kill it or at least allow the grass to come up. But it is not working. It may be spring before we can do anything about the alfalfa unless we have someone come in and just plow it all under and dry lot the alpacas. My question is what will this alfalfa do to the alpacas if they are allowed to graze on it? I have always limited the amount of alfalfa my animals get. But now that I have 4 acres of it to contend with I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any advice!
