[AlpacaTalk] FYI About low copper symptoms--at least in goats...

 

And possibly in other species...
 

Note these symptoms of sever copper deficiency in goats:

*1. unthrifty

 2. rough, un-shiny hair

 3. anemia

*4. poor milk production

 5. sometimes diarrhea

*6. fading coat color, especially around eyes

*7. bald tail tip

*8. retained placenta

 9. difficulty in conceiving

*10. short cycling

 11. hair loss

*12. slight hoof deformities

 13. bent legs in yearlings

*14. mastitis

 15. spontaneous bone fractures

 16. frequent bouts with pinkeye, pneumonia, lice,

 17. staph infections on udder or nose (look like little pustules)


Low copper in goats means low immune function, thus the wide range of symptoms that all go back to lowered immune defense.  Starred items are some of the earliest indicators.
