RE: [AlpacaTalk] Recent AOBA activities

Hi Robin, Heather…

I say go for it.. Set high standards of public disclosure for your BOD and officials and hold them to it.  Require a transparent election.  Ask for and get important relationships out in public before you vote.

Require that your BOD meet the standards of ethics set by other large public companies.

Require that the BOD not interfere in any with the Nominating Committee autonomy or communications with AOBA voting membership.

You have every right to require high standards and ethics.

Ask if any of the candidates have any relationships with AOBA by contract, for instance..

Ask if the candidates own alpacas or have owned them in the recent past.

Ask them if they are convicted of any felonies.

After all, wouldn't you like to know the answers to those questions BEFORE they are on the AOBA board?

We need AOBA to get their act together and support us in the way the members need.  We do not need to come apart at the seams.  A strong focused AOBA would be a tremendous asset.

There are options to AOBA certified shows. Of course, there's always ALSA, but then we have the International thing, which I have very little knowledge of, except the IAO which is always a great success as far as I know, and draws the best of the best in the country.

Does anyone besides me think things are gett ing worse at AOBA?

I think things are much worse.  I think we should start having non-AOBA-affiliated shows.
