Re: [AlpacaTalk] Progestrone for pregnancy testing
hi - i had the vet in - paid a huge fee for progesterone testing and three of the girls the lab told me were pregnant, weren't.
I don't do that anymore.
my girls are really funny - one will spit off the male over the fence - another one won't go in the catch pen (where we breed them) - they all have their ways of telling me what's going on - im getting to know them well enough to know their signs.
i only have one "party girl". If there's any breeding going on anytime, lily wants in on it - we have had to lift her up bodily from a cushed position against the gate, and carry her away so we can open the gate to let the breeding female back in the pasture.

Chrys,we have on occasion used them and know some ranches that use them successfully. No more successfully than spit testing though which will give you the same data.Blue SkiesJennifer PowersAero Ranch Suri Alpacas
