Hi Robin - how do you prevent contamination when you gather the blood from the cord? Do you simply touch the card to the cord tip immediately after birth? Mine slither all over the place and probably get DNA from other animals on them while they're trying to get into cush or standing position.

A tail stick is usually the easiest. I think there are a few sites that show you how to do it. I find it easier on adults than crias. The crias have little veins and wiggle too much. I usually stick myself too. I try to do all of mine at birth using the cord blood from the placenta. That is super easy and you don't have to stick anybody.
