[AlpacaTalk] 6 month old cria not acting right

 

OK folks,

 

I had a friend post over on Alpacasite since I can’t for the moment.  It is not ear ticks---I had checked the ear first thing.  It is most likely PEM….common here because of the changeable weather.  I have the Thiamine and am just going back out to the barn with a mega dose before bedtime. 

 

Unfortunately everyone is in a pasture and there is not help tonight so I had to wait until everyone is resting and cushed---and now I get to “sneak up” on her in the resting herd.  Let’s hope I am successful as I get to try catching her at pellet time tomorrow morning as well.  Her mom is one of the back of the herd, won’t; come up for treats type girls---low caste in the herd; makes sure all her crias are too. 

 

 Will update as matters develop.  No fever, no respiratory changes, but acts spacey---can’t walk right---think PEM….learned from others wiser than I-=---and confirmed by vet.
