RE: [AlpacaTalk] Dog blankets for alpacas
Yes, the waterproof one was the one I got. It fits 44-49 inches. I also got the weather beater which is the one that was velcro at the neck and stomach. It was a really nice coat but a little smaller than the other so I got several of the others when I reordered. The one girl that I needed it for is a very large alpaca but on the thin side. I've figured out that the price I got was from an email special they sent me so if you order something from them you will be on their list and receive notice the next time they go on sale which should be soon. I use the smaller sizes for cria coats and have a whole collection that I've been able to lend out locally. They are nice to have because I've been getting my animals sheared earlier , in April,to avoid the flies atacking them. I can throw them on, on chilly nights easily.

special that expired. Keep an eye on their site though because I've
bought these coats at that price for several years and I know they will
go on sale again. Register on the site to get the email specials so you
don't miss it.

Hi Flossie,
I just checked the site and was going to ask you which coat you got. I
see one for $12.95 - the WeatherBeeter, but it does not come in sizes
such as xxxl. The largest size was 32" -measured from base of neck to
base of tail. That might be long enough, I'll have to take a tape
measure out today and measure them.
The other one I saw that looked good was the 600 Denier waterproof one
for $24.95 and that does come in xxxl. Is that the one you got for
$12.95? If so, good for you!
If that is the one I will just keep watching for another sale. It is
probably too late to worry much about it for this year. It has been at
least 10 yrs since we've had a winter this cold with this much sleet and
snow. I was totally unprepared. I will not be again. I may never
need them but I will buy my guys and girls some coats. I won't have
them go thru this again. My eldest girl was shivering the other night
and I was so sad, wasn't a thing I could do for her. Put the girls in
the little tiny barn, but it has a concrete floor and so not good for
helping them stay warm while cushed on it. Normally I strew hay around
for them to lay on; but at this time I am so low on hay and really
sweating whether or not we are *ever* going to dry out enough for a hay
truck to get in here, so not willing to use what hay I do have on the
floor for them to foul. I laid the cardboard boxes I have flattened and
stashed for the spring garden (to smother weeds) for them; it was the
best I could do.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll go back to the site and
register....
according to the site those are on sale now for $12.95
