If you keep your male on a halter and lead, just for spit testing, there won't be a breeding unless you allow it. If she spits, kicks, and runs, she's probably pregnant. If she kushes, she's probably not pregnant but then you can lead the male away and not have a breeding right now. 

I believe Safeguard is safe at all times, and those in M-worm country worm with Ivomec injections each and every month, pregnant or not. Valbazen is the one not generally indicated during pregnancy, but we had to use it for liver flukes one year and had no problems from it.

If she spits off check her again in about 5 days. If she spits off
both times, she's probably pregnant and I'd wait till she delivers to give
safeguard. Is her cria from last year still nursing? Are you certain
she's not sneaking? If she's nursing and the dam is pregnant again,
you'll need to separate them immediately so that the new cria will get 
colostrum
when it's born.

Thanks Carolyn! Excellent suggestions, and yes Merry Morning is still 
nursing on occ, tho mom for the most part for stand still for it any 
more, she does still manage to get a slurp now and then. I had not 
considered the implications to colostrum production. I had not really 
even considered pregnancy a possibility until this behaviour the other 
night.
I will put the female with the male and watch to see what 
happens.....altho I do *not* want a mating this time of year, altho Nov 
is usually quite pleasant here so I guess it wouldn't be terrible. 
Merry was born end of Dec last year and she was no trouble, had no 
problems at all - a first for us!

Thanks for the advice, always appreciated. And i will get them 
ivermec'd tomorrow too icky out there today; and will hold off on the 
Safeguard.
So ivermec is safe right up to delivery? If she gets an injection now, 
she will be due for another in a month, which according to the calendar 
should be about 2 -4 wks before due date....will that one be ok as 
well? No safeguard until after delivery?
