[AlpacaTalk] Re: Grooming chute

 

I just posted a plan for a chute and a picture of the one we made at the Alpaca Gelding web site. I'll go ahead and post the same thing here under "Files".

Here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland the materials cost us around $150. We had one short piece of 2x4 left over...so the design is very efficient material wise.

We added a hook to the front of the chute (see picture) so we can hook directly to Dusty's halter to keep him from cushing. He is the only one that tries to cush. You could add a belly band if you have cushers.

At the rear of the chute is a horizontal 2x4 that slides out. When in place it keeps the alpacas from backing out of chute.

While it is not very pretty, it is functional.
