[AlpacaTalk] Re: Coccidiia
Hello Wendy. Follow you vets instructions regarding what to provide the cria with regard to shots. My vet does do the CD&T on cria but it is important to determine is this the 3-way, 5-way, 8-way, you see how it is good to let them steer this task. If your vet is relatively new to Alpacas, I know our vet would be happy discussion this with your vet. It is not rocket science but a lot of vets just have not had an opportunity to work with alpacas.
Regarding Coccidia - we treat the water buckets with Corrid and follow the instructions on the bottle. Should you have confusion on dosing amounts or conversion give us a shout out and we can help. When we start treatments we restrict water consumption to only the treated buckets.

Also, what shots do you usually give for a new cria? My vet usually just gives a Covexin 8. Also, I know you can't give Naxcel to new cria's, but can you give it to the pregnant mom the last 4 weeks for ear infection? I'm trying to make sure I get it right. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for any info.
