Hi Susan,
Yes, I am sure a lawn vac would work. Especially the kind that has its own engine and is trailer mounted. Trying to use the vac suction created by the blades from a lawn mower, covers too large of area, so the suction would be reduced because of the size of the mower deck. Hope that makes some kind of sence!! :)
I will attach some pics of what my vac looks like! Some where I have a pic after I put a tongue jack on it, and place under the engine at the lower frame where I can carry a wrench, and a rack that I can lay a rake under the box. Some times the paca poop is stuck to the ground like glue, and has to be scratched up, before it can be sucked up!

Thanks, Jim! Boy, wanna come stay at our ranch for awhile? You sure are handy! Do you think that a lawn vac would work on horse manure? We have just been mulching our horse manure into the pasture with our garden tractor which works great but wears the mulching blades pretty quickly. We also mulch the alpaca manure the same way but remove it from their pasture first.SUSAN OLSONAlpaca LocoRiverside, CA
