Maegan, I think the issue needs to be separated as far as BEW's and BLUE-EYED alpacas of color are concerned. I have blue eyes and I don't have any genetic defects that I know of. Just having blue eyes doesn't bring on genetic defects unless it is the BEW lethal white gene. I still don't see why having a blue-eyed colored alpaca would be a problem.
