I use a feeder that I built from a half plastic barrel and some cattle panel, so dont use the bale feeder. The herd just kushes around it, like having a gab fest, resting and munching away.  My guess is that your hungry one, or so it thinks, would just stuff its self. :) After a while, they file out to the pasture.

I have a question - what do your fatty alpacas do with the full bale feeder?  We have one that I am sure would just sit there all day and eat.
