[AlpacaTalk] Alpaca Kooler [2 Attachments]
[Attachment(s) from J Guerin included below]
Hi All,
Thought I would share a couple pics of what I call an alpaca kooler. I had been building my fiber tumbler and was taking a break. I had been trying to come up with something I could do to keep the herd cool and not have them go diving in the water trough.
While I was sitting there, I got to thinking about something like a hoop with holes drilled in it and able to hook it up to a hose.
I had some black plastic pipe laying around, so I measured the one I found, cut it in half, which made two pieces about 18 or 19 foot long, or a six or so foot hoop. I had enough parts and pipe to make three of them. The first one I drilled holes way to big, and way to close to gether. The second one was smaller holes, a bit further apart. By the time I got the thrid one done, I had it!! :)
I used 3/4 inch pipe, cuz I had it. I feel 1/2 inch would have worked very well. When drilling the holes, put the drill bit all the way in, leaving maybe a quarter inch or so, sticking out. I ended up drilling one sixteenth inch holes about eight inches apart, smaller may have been better, but it works fine. As for the first two hoops with the too large holes, I sealed them with silicone caulking, and re drilled!!
Here are a couple pics.
