[AlpacaTalk] RE: ARF and CA research

Dear Wendy,
Regarding ARF and CA studies.  I can tell you with absolute certainty that ARF has NEVER refused to do, or *decided* not to do ANY study in all of it's time in operation due to:
A) a big breeder not wanting them to do it for whatever reason
B) being paid to NOT do it
C) because of any other political or personal affiliation with anyone that is currently, or has been in the past an alpaca breeder or on the BOD of any alpaca/llama/camel organization.

The Alpaca Research Foundation is now, and has ALWAYS been about furthering the knowledge we have about camelids, and will consider ANY new study relating to camelid health.

The most likely reason behind a grant application not getting turned into a full study?  No money to back it.
I really don't like it when people *assume* for whatever personal reason that there are nefarious plots going on within legitimate, vital organizations.  This is simply not so, and I would hope that this will stop- right here, right now.

If you feel passionately about a certain study, I encourage you to get a grant written for your proposal, submit it- then back it up with the money needed to get it started.

You can visit http://www.alpacaresearchfoundation.org and search Choanal Atresia to see what has been studied about it, and what our vision for the future is.

ARF welcomes letters and thoughts.  All of our BOD members, as well as our Development Committee member's contact information can be found on the site.

I encourage you to ask me, anytime at all, about anything regarding ARF.  My contact info can be found in my signature line.
Please, everyone support ARF- it benefits everyone's alpacas.
Sincerely,
Rachelle Black
