Re: [AlpacaTalk] Alpaca Chutes & Meds

Hi Chrys.

We have a chute & I like it for nails & teeth. Shots are just easier for me using 2 people with the alpaca up against a wall or in a corner.
I also like to have 2 people even using the chute. The animal is restrained but sometimes will try and jump ot struggle.
The more people the merrier!!
There is a liquid Panacur I think it's Safeguard Liquid.

Subject: [AlpacaTalk] Alpaca Chutes & Meds

Can anyone give me information on the benefits or hazards of an alpaca chute? I am considering an alpaca chute to make giving shots and cutting nails easier.

I am new to the business and found it quite difficult to restrain my yearling males, who just did not want to cooperate for their wormer shot.

Also, I gave them a panacur paste and was wondering if there is a liquid form that I could use instead. Probably just me being a newbie, but I found the paste hard to make sure I dispensed the appropriate amount. Please give me pros or cons on either form.
