[AlpacaTalk] Re: fly predators

Fly predators work great! Let me explain our experience. We agist a
barn and pasture for cattle. The cattle owner is not as diligent
in cleaning manure, in fact they clean twice a year if we are lucky.
We had so many flies we could not get within 10 feet of the cattle
and of course this transitioned to our Alpacas. We bought the fly
predators mid-2006 and by fall saw an improvement but not great. We
started right away in 2007 and continued all year and then repeated
his in 2008.
The cattle owner wondered what we were doing because we hardly have
any flies and at the other farm they are infested. We spread them in
manure piles, compost heaps, barn yard, and anywhere it is moist and
manure and do not use any other predator control. We follow the
recommended use and quantity. No chemicals, no mess, just no flies.
How bad can that be?
