Re: [AlpacaTalk] Thought I would likr to share this with you
Using someone else's established farm name is a pet peeve of mine. I
worked very hard to find a unique farm name many years ago, was the
first to register with AOBA under that farm name, and forgot to
reserve my breeder ID with ARI for a while, since no one else had the
same farm name. Well, in the time that I delayed reserving my breeder
ID, someone across the country chose it, and reserved it. Mind you, I
was the first to register animals with that farm name, yet they chose
it anyway. Now, there are no less than 4 other farms using that
previous farm name!
So now I have a new farm name, and reserved the breeder ID with ARI
immediately. I just think it's poor form. Just because we're not one
of those farms with thousands of animals doesn't mean everyone
doesn't deserve the same courtesy. You wouldn't dream of calling your
farm "Magical" would you? Or wold I dare to call my farm "Northwest?"
No! So why do people regularly usurp small farms' names?
As to me being heartless, how on earth would I know what you were
advertising? All you posted was a link. I've never heard of you, you
didn't introduce yourself, you didn't even tell us what we might
expect to see. That is extremely poor nettiquette. I was tempted to
remove you as a member of the group as a spammer, since this is the
type of thing they do.
And you still didn't sign your post!
If you wish to be treated as a member, you must behave as a member.
Let us know who you are, and why we should follow your link, and most
of all, let us know by your actions and participation that you're not
a spammer or virus spreader type of person, and that you really are
an alpaca person.
Best regards,
Heather
