I have also seen fox out during the day, mostly when it's overcast out or right after it rains. They were grabbing my chickens and ducks until I put fencing up. I have never seen them try to dig under or climb the fence but have seen them running back and forth along the fence line for a few months after we put it up. Then they stopped coming.
