Re: [AlpacaTalk] New to group - fill my brain!
Hi Brian,
Glad to have you aboard! And welcome to all our new members!
At this time, as you can see from our membership numbers, AlpacaTalk is
a small group so we have discussions in fits and spurts. Hopefully,
with more and more people joining daily, we'll have lively
conversations daily!
So far, I haven't had to do any real "moderation.
necessary with adults. There have been heated discussions here, not too
long ago, with some strong points of view and even some strong words
posted. There were even a few posts that were quite rude and negative
toward myself (gasp!). ;> But no one was banned, no one lost posting
privileges, and all was well. True, a few people left or threatened to
leave, but I stood my ground in the name of free speech. Censorship,
even of negative words about me, goes against my grain.
So, while I think everyone needs to be an adult both in posting and in
their response to posts, I'll say we all do quite well. For example,
instead of saying "I think you're stupid and wrong," perhaps one could
say "I disagree with you and here's why." But even if someone tells me
they think I'm stupid and wrong, well, they're entitled to their
opinion. And guess what, the more "real" posts you see from people, the
more you see who you do and don't want to do business with, right? So
it all works out in the end. At least that's what they say. :)
So have fun, and post away!
Heather
