Fwd: [AlpacaTalk]New subject....Current alpaca sales

Here's my opinion: I think it's just a reflection of the economy as a
whole. Our industry is no different than others when it comes to the
effects of fuel prices, the extremely soft dollar, jobs outsourced to
China and India... you name it. Not to mention the sub-prime loan
debacle, billions and trillions of dollars going to Iraq. The economy
just sucks right now. Some financial analysts feel we're headed for a
recession, some say a hard recession (depression?).

Others feel the alpaca market is becoming saturated, but it's estimated
that there are between 70 and 100,000 alpacas (we had "our" 100,000th
alpaca registered a few months ago) in the US right now, and this is
fraction of other livestock species. I think there's plenty of room for
continuing growth in this industry, we just need to ride out the poor
financial times. I hope I can afford to do so, I am seeing very good
results in my very small breeding program, and I want to be able to
continue!
