[AlpacaTalk] ID Theft
Last night while doing some browsing on the internet, I mistakenly came across a website that when you click on the link, a database came up that listed 20,000 names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, credit card numbers, expiration dates, mother'smaiden names and social security numbers. All set up on an excel file.
Many of the names listed had email addresses that were from spambob accts. Please do not use these types of accounts! Your information is not protected!
At this point, I do not know if the website I came across was not secure, or if the information was uploaded to it. This site was one that you can blog, add photos and files to your profile. I will not give out the information on which site until I know for sure that it has been removed from the internet.
I contacted the FBI in Portland Oregon last night by phone and today. They were very nonchalant and didn't seem all that worried that 20,000 people have information on a website for anyone to view! The first person did not even ask who I was. They asked me to fill out an online form and they will review it in some hours...and today is a federal holiday.
Anyway, FYI for all. I was searching a specific alpaca breeder by name and came across this site.
