Libby, it would seem that this is a bit of a half truth, don't you
think?

It was very generous to offer the space to AOBA for three years, and
true that you did not ask for anything.

It would seem to many though that the write-off is the equivalent of
recieving something.

Was the building occupied by any other tenent at the time of the gift
to AOBA? I ask this because I have heard rumors that it was vacant
at the time, and I do not want to give unwarrented substance to
rumors. That said, if it was vacant, it would seem that there were
additional benefits to having a tenent move in, since things like
insurance and security for a vacant building are more expensive than
an occupied building - resulting in additional savings for Mini-
Storage.

As Ben Franklin said, "A penny saved is a penny earned."

There are many ways to save, or make, money by helping others, and
certainly nothing wrong with it. In fact, it is recognizing this and
taking advantage of such opportunities that set truly successful
people apart. The books "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" do a good job of
explaining how these different perspectives on the world contribute
to, or hinder, one's personal success/wealth.

So, I freely acknowledge that you asked for nothing in giving this
space to AOBA for three years. I have a bit harder time with the
assertion that you received nothing - but I guess that depends on how
we each define the term for ourselves.
