[AlpacaTalk] Re: BEW?

Hi Heidi,

I know that a parent can carry back genetics tho....so say that you
have a solid black boy (his mother was a PN) he can pass that gene
on to his cria. Even though he is personally pure black he still
has a 50 50 chance to carry the PN gene. So that is more what I was
wondering. Is the chance of throwing a BEW the same as if he
himself was a pattern? Not really good at explaining myself
sometimes sorry about that.

present on the parent, it can not be passed on.? The way I
understand it is that the white spot pattern is dominant, so if you
have one gene, you have the pattern.? If you have two genes, then
the animal is a blue eyed white.? The only time it is difficult to
determine is if the animal is white already - in that case they may
also have a white spot gene, but it is on top of white, so you can't
see it.
