[AlpacaTalk] Virus Update

Things continue to be slow, and we all this means that the changing
season is brining an end to the virus. We have had a number of reports
today, one more state was added to the list, and one death was reported.

Here are the current numbers:

Total herd size reported: 4705
Total number reported infected: 2410
Total number of deaths reported: 50 from owners and 6+ from
vets/universities

Reports of infections: 37 States
Reports of deaths: 21 States
Reporting farms: 155

Please remember that tomorrow, 11/20/07, is the last day to collect
samples for Dr. Purdy's virus testing. If you have an animal with
significant symptoms, please help! (Details:

)

Keep the reports coming. AlpacaWatch's watch library is continuing
to grow. Listening to the concerns of other alpaca owners we have added
articles on, BVDV and BarberPole Worms.

Please remember that our long-term goal is to be an early warning system
for issues that effect alpaca/llamas. So let us know of other health or
safety issues that you hear about.

Thank you for your support, and team work!

Cheers,
Janet Morrow
