Re: [AlpacaTalk] Short Bio

Hi Big Sky country,

This is Amanda from Across the pond. Notice how people go really quiet
.... when you mention the word 'marketing', and the idea of actually
'selling' animals? ..... I've noticed that too. I wonder if it's become
some little taboo that we just don't really talk about .... ?

I think I'm being devils advocate here, but actually selling our
alpacas? Well that's another matter isn't it and we are as small
breeders, up against the bigger breeders with plenty of spondulicks
(money) and marketing strategies .... oh and staff. And somehow, the
actual selling of alpacas is one of the quiet words that we whisper, so
well done for mentioning it, but I'm feeling really cynical lately and
I'd like to bet that you don't get many replies.

It might be more fruitful to band together with some of the other local
newbies and form a larger group for selling animals? Check out Wren
Owens set up. She seems to know what she's doing (Close-Knit Alpacas,
from Woodhull, NY).

Sorry for being so cynical. We are in a similar position to you, but
across the pond in England ... not much is that different it seems.

Best Wishes
Amanda Poyner
