Another thing to keep in mind is the yield from each animal. If you
have a 5lb blanket (lucky you!) then you aren't going to get 5lbs of
yarn back! Talk with the mill regarding your finished product, what
they expect you will receive from them. Also, do you want your own
animal fibers back? Some mills just send you from their stock.

If you have only say 3 or 4 alpacas there might be a charge for
processing a small amount. Seen one mill charge $45! So, buyer
beware, not all mills are alike you really need to shop. Ask other
alpaca people who they use and ask to see what they got. If that's not
possible then ask the mill to send you a sample.

It takes at least 12 50 gram skeins of yarn to make a sweater so take
that into account if you are selling to knitters. A scarf on the other
hand would only take 2.
