[AlpacaTalk] Newbie/writer intro to the list

Hi all!

I'm a bit different than most on this list.

I'm a writer.

I write fiction and currently, I have a novel that I want to have alpacas
and alpaca breeders in a accurate and good light.

I'm at the very beginning stages of research, so beyond some basics like:
ooooOooO they look cute and they are grazing animals and I've heard tale that
they humm and are originally from South America. I know very very little.

My character Mary, fortunately, knows very little as well. So I'm looking
for her to make some mistakes, and learn. Eventually, by the end of the book
I want her to have a thriving farm, breeding, feeding, showing?? and
marketing the wool (or whatever it's called) in some way.

Ok, now for the personal stuff.

I have a husband and I have 5 cats. I'm constantly caring and feeding
them. I live in CT, and although I have a "day job" I write. Articles, short
stories, and novel. I've been published in articles and short stories.

So mostly I'll be lurking, but sometimes I'll ask questions that might
appear really stupid, but I'm just doing research.
