RE: [Alpacasite] Hacking: Can Anyone Explain This?

Hi All,

With the explanation of password stealing method of going through
permutations of possible passwords I would be remiss not to add that that is
not likely a common method to steal passwords. Most internet providers
would likely shut down such an attempt before it was successful.

I think that two more common methods would be

1. To have a virus plant a program on your computer that records your
keystrokes and sends the data off to the virus writer and usernames and
passwords can be read from that. Using antivirus and spyware detection
software will fight this. And turning off your Internet connection
overnight would help cut down on the time a virus would have to attack your
computer.

2. A dictionary attack where a program tries common words that people might
use for passwords. So instead of having to try millions or billions of
combinations only a few thousand words are used. Using a strong password
with letters, numbers and symbols would defeat that.

Hope this helps

Cheers,
Richard.
