The key for the IRS is if you can show you have intent to make a
profit. The less you look like other breeders that you can point at
that do make a profit, the harder that argument becomes to make.

You need to find a tax profession that has experience with livestock
and go over your specific circumstance. Most CPAs will give a short
free consultation if they think you are a potential client or pay
for an hour of their time and ask all the questions you want.
