[Alpacasite] Re: Cracked corn
Hi Susan et al,
I, too, use a pellet formulated by Norm Evans to match my
hay. It contains what I would call "flaked" corn in tiny pieces. I
even worry about this amount, though.
At the 2001 AOBA in Portland Dr. Tibary gave a talk on alpaca
nutrition and digestion. Probably Ken has it in his computer
somewhere. He showed slides of the stomachs of alpacas who had died
of ulcers. Corn had caused pitting in the stomach lining. To see
it is to believe in not using corn. As I say, I even worry about the
tiny amount I'm feeding but would certainly not hand out COB for
treats as I used to do!!
