Re: [AlpacaTalk] Equipment

I forgot to mention waterers. We use this type of waterer. I absolutely recommend buying the powder coated ones, rather than galvanized, because the galvanized ones will rust in a few years. Plus, the powder coated ones seem to be less expensive.

We use a miniature 15w aquarium heater to keep them from freezing. I saw one place in my google search that carries them for $9.50, but they're out of stock at that store.

And for feeding pellets, we use 5 quart bowls. We separate them into stalls of similar bossiness and eating speed, so everyone gets their full portion, and no one gets to steal from others, too much.

For Stillwater minerals, blend 104, we use one of these 5 qt over the fence feeders and only put out a cup or two at a time, and refill when it's empty or low. Also, it must be placed where it will be protected from weather, especially rain. :)

I shop around for the best price. I like valley vet for a whole lot of items, needles and syringes and some meds.
