Subject: [AlpacaTalk] SOS - cria issues

Girl cria born yesterday at 10:30 am. cria's front feet and head emerged from the birth canal and stopped. Mother cushed at this point. Assisted by gently pulling the baby the remainder of the way.

Baby is having difficulties standing. she tends to cush with frog legs and lays with head on the floor. Can't stand to nurse, but wants to nurse.

Gave her goat's milk and colostrum from a bottle yesterday. She took 2 ounces. Temp is 99.5 this morning. Babe will not take the bottle, but she seems to be cushing under mom. Possibly getting milk from mother? Not sure. She holds her head up pretty good now until she tries to stand. Can't seem to get her feet under her to get up and if does extremely wobbly and is back down within 5 minutes.

Any ideas of what is going on here? Any suggestions (other than an expensive vet call)?
