Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: AlpacaTalk on FaceBook
Heather,
I most certainly understand, and respect how you feel. However, in turn, I would think one would have to respect another's perspective.
We all have discussed in previous threads, the fact that this would be, could be a reality, and so it is with some folks. And because we are an alpaca site, we should be free to discuss what we feel is important to us as a community, no matter what the subject matter is ( my opinion ).
Some have been " lulled " into the fact that by having many alpacas equals big bucks...
Many have been faced with the problem the economy has laid out for us, by this I mean having to radically downsize or even provide food!
If faced with having to make such a drastic decision, I would prefer my animals be humanely euthanized as opposed to being "donated " to a crappy home ( already seen this done... ) Or given to an already over crowded rescue facility. And we all know what can happen there, if we all remember that horrible incident with the Llama rescue in Montana...
I'm not an advocate for slaughter, that's why we bought alpacas in the first place, however, I think we need to exercise a little fairness in the topic.
If you would prefer not to hear about it, I would recommend one to not read the post...

Don,
Barb Nelson Kifer: Thanks for adding me,Heather.. I have so much to learn and share... Just lets not discuss meat and/or composting paca bodies?
Heather Zeleny Absolutely, I do not want to entertain those in support of alpaca slaughter.
I don't know how to read the exchange above (copy/pasted from the facebook page) except to say some topics will be banned. Will you assure us all that ALL topics related to alpaca ownership and the industry will be welcomed on the AlpacaTalk facebook page?

Where do you see that members will be kicked out for discussing any topic?

I went to the link but based on the first thing I saw there I'm concerned that the AlpacaTalk facebook group is going to kick out anyone who mentions alpaca slaughter. This is a very important topic to our industry and not one that is going to go away. While I'm not interested in dwelling on it I'd like to know up front whether people will be allowed to discuss it if the topic comes up on the facebook group.
Trading alpaca recipes might be a bit much for some people.
