Re: [AlpacaTalk] blue eyed cria
I have had two blue eyed black/tuxedo cria born, and had blue eyed fawns. All hearing, very healthy. And we've had plenty of dark blue/grey eyed whites born, as well as coloreds, too many to count. Despite what a few people say, it isn't unusual, and happens all the time.
Did you see that new paper out regarding alpaca color genetics from Australia? It specifically says there are multiple genes responsible for blue eyes, and does not imply this is a genetic fault or defect of any kind.

I had three cria born in the past week. 1 black ; 1 blue eyed white and 1 blue eyed light fawn. All appear to be healthy and hearing. I never heard of blue eyed cria being any color other than white. I had a blue eyed cria born about 2 years ago and he was snow snow white and deaf. The white cria is not nearly as white as he was and the other one is definitely fawn. Is this unusual? Jim
