[AlpacaTalk] Paddock Cover Material

Hello All

We are in the process of building a new barn and have decided not to go with cement everywhere like our last barn. Inside will be a compressible semi-sandy floor (good drainage) material covered with stall skins. I am racking my brain for something that will work well in our climate (WI) and weather conditions in our "paddock" area where the alpacas are locked away at night. The barn is on a hill so all water will run away quite rapidly. But I have a concern about winter and using snow blower and skid steers to clear snow if the base material is not solid enough I will be tearing it up. I also don't want them standing in mud. I do not want a material that has detrimentally effects their fiber etc. Does anyone have any suggestions that they are happy with in these conditions?
