Yes, some feeds are medicated, not only chicken feed but other livestock feeds. Remember the Land O Lakes feed disaster in the midwest in 2004? That alpaca feed was tainted with Ionophores which are extremely toxic to camelids, but quite helptful for other animals as an antibiotic, I believe. The Land O Lakes feed was tainted with Salinomycin which is used as a coccidia control.

If we did not have our custom feed, we would feed nothing but our 2nd cut orchard grass hay with free choice Stillwater 104 mineral/vitamin mix, and some dairy grade alfalfa, no more than 1 lb per head per day.
