[AlpacaTalk] MOPACA members -please help

 

I am sorry to keep bringing up this llama rescue in Montana. Most of the llamas have been removed from the property -thanks to EVERYONE and their support. I'm sure you could all guess that donations have been solicited from businesses and groups everywhere with mostly positive results.
I am am disappointed, however, by the response from MOPACA. They were contacted requesting that a halter donation bin be placed at their March show (specifically for the MLAS rescues). Here is the response:

"I've spoke with the MOPACA Board of Directors and President, and had a conference with a few of the show committee members on this request and as much as we feel the pain of this unfortunate situation, we feel that since we are an alpaca show, that this may not be well received by our other paid vendors and/or alpaca exhibitors. Some may be okay with it…some may not. An alternative idea, and you would have to talk directly with them, but one of our vendors will be Quality Llama – perhaps you can set something up with them – where folks buy a llama halter from them and donate it to your cause, but they do this out of their booth. Alpaca people have stepped up and helped these poor llamas more than any group I know! You are the most compassionate group I have ever had the privilege of being associated with!
I am asking all MOPACA members to email or call the BOD and ask them to reconsider. It would not cost MOPACA anything to honor this request. Please, if you can, let them know how much it would help.
