[AlpacaTalk] RE: [Alpacasite] Re: More election stuff

Hi Vickie,

Abstaining is the least of what should have been done.  He should not have been present at discussion or deliberation concerning the contract and he should not have been able to talk to members of the BOD who were…at least he should not discuss those matters with them.

Abstaining is merely one of three things that should have happened.  That makes me concerned why the other two walls were not in place.

The copy/paste below from the AOBA website posted meeting minutes dated Jan. 4, 2010 APPEARS to insinuate that Bill Pearce has a business relationship with Alpacas Magazine since he abstained from voting on this contract proposal.

III. Old Business
Libby Forstner reviewed a proposal for the 2010 Alpaca's Magazine contract.
Libby Forstner made a motion that AOBA accept the proposed reimbursement
schedule, listed below, revised January 4, 2010 for one year publication of
Alpaca's Magazine from Sunrise Editorial Services, Dave Belt, seconded by Ian
Watt. Question called, roll call vote. 6 for, none against, 1 abstained, motion
passed.
For – Jess Bowers, David Barboza, Libby Forstner, Claudia Raessler, Ian Watt,
Bill Johnson
Against – None
Abstain – Bill Pearce

So does Bill Pearce have a business relationship with Alpacas Magazine?
If so, what problems might this present and is this something he did not want the membership to know?

Ian,
under the bylaws these communications with candidates must be through and by the Nominating Committee. Until a new committee is seated the BOD must remain hands off the candidates to avoid any possible collusion.

This meddling in the election is strictly verboten. A BOD meeting with the candidates is far far over the line of ok and as you say "beyond the pale".

How to proceed? I expect the BOD to proceed as guided by the by-laws and get a new committee appointed posthaste.

But at this point the call has taken place so this is all crying over spilt milk.

Here is hoping the BOD does the right thing.
