I don't know if there will ever be a site that you can name names but it would be nice to know what to look for or questions to ask. I just heard a horror story from a new buyer.  She did all her homework on lines, genetics, alpacas.  She purchased from a seller going out of business and purchased several pregnant females.  She purchased these particular females due to the high quality breedings.  She over extended herself a bit financially but thought the high quality was worth it.  Long sad story short.  This seller never paid for the breeding and she was unable to reach any agreements with the herdsire owners other that pay for the breeding which she was unable to do because of lack of funds.  She was unable to register the cria.  Needless to say she has a very bad feeling towards alpaca breeders.    I never thought to ask or call the herdsire's owner to see if everything is on the up and up with them.    I will in the future call the herdsire owner to make sure everything is OK on that end.  Another point to add to the buyer beware list.     Robin Richard and Robin Vasquez R & R Ranch LLC 325B Denio Avenue Gilroy,CA 95020 Phone: 408-842-5233/ Cell 408-710-0676/710-7911          A Ranch of Distinction www.LoveThemAlpacas.com                           LTA   --- On Sun, 11/8/09, Laura A. RightPet is an educational site which allows individuals to rate the breeds/species of animals they've owned, and recommend services/businesses they like. For Alpacas, users can rate attributes like appearance, temperament, growth rate, fiber quality, tolerance to heat/cold etc.. They also give an "overall" rating. The idea is that potential owners can read these ratings to help educate themselves and see if an animal is appropriate for them and what they want to use the animal for.  Rescues, clubs and suppliers can also be added.
