Re: [AlpacaTalk] Hartman Alpaca Sale in Nebraska

I want to thank you for having the courage to speak up about this auction.

I have heard rumors, way back from when we started in the business, about them, but no one would ever say anything specific or give any details. In fact, one person became very angry and defended them when I brought up the less than stellar reputation that Hartman's has.

I'm sorry their lawyer has contacted you. But, as long as you're telling the truth, I don't see that they have any grounds to silence you.

It really broke my heart to see two local farms send a lot of animals to their auction last year. I wold have loved to have some of them. In fact, this is why we're seeing so many from a particular farm for sale on the groups, daily.

I have had one other person write privately about Hartmans. I wish everyone who has experience with them wold speak up. And please don't send your alpacas there anymore!

Best regards,
Heather

Thanks Janice for your concern about my alpaca situation.  Here is an update:

I had a woman in Nebraska offer to go get the one female that I had located
that was still in Nebraska and had not already been resold at the stockyard sales.
I had another very kind woman who offered to front the $650 I needed to go
buy my female back from the man who paid $175 for her at the auction and was going to resell
her at the stockyard sales in the mid-west.  This really helped me out as I have no income and would have
to borrow the money at the bank.  I am happy to say that my female alpaca is now rescued
and at the ranch of the woman in Nebraska who is caring for her until I can get a
transport arranged back home.  I will try to sell her off my ranch to someone I know will love
and care for her.

I also received today a registered letter in the mail from a law firm in Nebraska
representing the auctioneer telling me to stop telling things that are not true and to
basically stop talking at all.  I now have to go and see a lawyer to make a reply
letter to this law firm.  Just what I needed is another bill from a law firm as I am
still paying the trust laywer and corportate lawyers for my husband's things.

I have asked the auctioneer (via a e-mail that was never answered and via a registered
letter that was never picked up), for my money and my alpacas back.  I am not out to
tell anyone untruths about this or any other firm.  I just want people to know what my
experience was so that nobody else will be hurt in the same manner.  Call me stupid,
but I was totally unaware that this venue would be so poorly attended that they would actually
sell my alpacas for as low as $10

I have too much on my plate running our ranch, and dealing with our empty
Big Box Store in Texas to spend my time daily on this.  I just care about people being hurt
and alpacas being traded around like they were sports cards.
