[AlpacaTalk] RE: LGD
Thanks Susan and Flossie, I will start looking around. There is woman
here that does a large dog rescue, no particular breeds; bless her, she
just goes around to all the pounds each week on the day before put down
day and takes all. I am told she loves each and every one as her very
own. She must have tons of money, but bless her for what she is doing.
I keep meaning to get intouch with her. I think I will try harder to
find her contact info and let her know what I am interested in.
I have also seen a note up at the feed store last year for some G Pyr
puppies for $200 but I did not even call as I had just determined from
the posts I had read that they were more trouble than they were worth
and would perhaps kill my alpacas.
Given my time constraints I also felt that an older one, used to being
with livestock, would be better for me. But question being able to find
a good one that someone just did not need any longer.
In the meantime I have decided, even with all the caveats, to put hot
wire along the outside of my alpaca fences until the time when I have
lgds I can trust. Originally I was just planning on that for the horses
and future goats to keep them *in*; now I am going to do it for the
alpacas to keep other critters *out*.
