Re: [AlpacaTalk] skin ointment
Having first hand tried everything under the sun for a severe mite
case a few years ago, I can say that Witches Brew didn't do a darned
thing. The DMSO also dried the skin out terribly, making the
condition worse. I have before and after pics, if you'd like to see
them. :) My poor boy had mites in his ears, around his eyes, on his
chest and belly, under the tail, and of course on the feet. Awful!
What worked for me was Advantage Top-Spot for dogs 132+ lbs, applied
a bit in the topknot, on the rump, and on the underside of the chest
and belly. Chest and belly required using a regular syringe without a
needle to administer. In addition to the Advantage, I used Ovitrol
spray on the affected areas (including ears) weekly. I got them from
discount pet drugs dot com or something like that. $10.50 for a 16 oz
bottle. And it really worked! I'll look up the actual URL for you all.
I tried not only Witches Brew, but also Neem Oil which smelled like
hell but worse, Atroban, a permethrin spray product which did not
work... I can't even remember all the stuff I tried. Advantage and
Ovitrol together is the only treatment that worked for me.
