I hadn't ever heard of Ellie's suggested treatment, that sounds like
it's definitely something to try next time I have to deal with this.

My final treatment was Frontline Top Spot for dogs, of course the
size for the largest dogs 132+ lbs. I drew this into a 6cc syringe
with no needle, just the syringe and applied an equal amount to the
topknot, shoulder, rump, chest, and "belly" areas. This was done once
a month.
Then, I sprayed with Ovitrol spray to all affected areas weekly. I
think I bought both from discountpetdrugs.
and they had good prices. Shop around for the best deal, of course.
So, I hope this is informative for everyone. It sure was a painful
experience for both Padre and myself. It really pained me to see him
suffering with this condition.
I know my methods worked, Ellie's sounds very good, and I know
Nustock also works, although I only have personal experience with
using that with abscesses.
