I'll just add that we're sometimes a bit put off by drop-ins. We're
not always available right at that moment, maybe we've gotten behind
on some chores, or whatever... So my main advice in this area is to
call or email first to set up a farm visit. And, be honest, that
you're looking into fiber boys, not breeding females. People are very
happy to find homes for their fiber boys, so they may be thrilled to
have you come over!

And, maybe you could ask if you could come to help with scooping,
herd health, etc, to learn how to take care of alpacas so you'll have
some experience when you do get your own. I don't think anyone would
turn down free poop scooping help!
