When giving sq injections to humans, I simply pinch the skin and
inject at a 75-90% angle, using a 5/8" needle.

Alpacas do not have the sq fat that humans do, so rather than
pinching, I pull up the skin, using the fiber and inject straight
into the skin, using a 1/2", 20 gauge needle. I have no problems
using a 20 gauge needle with Ivomec and the smaller needle is less
uncomfortable for the alpaca.
