[AlpacaTalk] Quick question about new fiber boys...
Hey guys!
New to the group, and already I have a question...LOL.
here it goes... We just bought 2 fiber boys, a bay black and a
white. They are both about 4 years old. They both blend in nicely
with the rest of the herd. We had them vet checked before we brought
them home. We had them here a few days before we did anything with
them, as far as worming goes, due to their extensive travel. They
were in a trailer for about 5 hours for the drive, and we figured
they'd been traumatized enough on their trip without us poking them
with needles and shoving Panacure down their throats as soon as they
got to their new home. They've been here for a little less than a
week, and we've wormed them both. Now my question. They really
don't seem interested in eating grain at all. The bay black will
pick at it a little bit, and the white one wants nothing at all to do
with it. He ate a quarter cup one morning, and now wants nothing to
do with it at all. On top of that, the white guy has extremely loose
fecal matter, deep green, which I'm assuming is from eating a
different kind of hay/grass. We gave him some Kaolin for that, and
it seems to be helping. Some of the farms we've visited don't feed
their boys any grain at all, and I'm wondering if that's what's going
on here. Any comments/ things I should try???
