[AlpacaTalk] ARI By law amendment...please vote against Amendment #1
Hello everyone,
I wanted to bring your attention to Amendment #1 in the ARI Election
Packet: This By law Amendment would allow compensation to be made to the
ARI Board of Directors for services. A few years back, an ARI Board member
and his friends hired the Board President as Editor of the ARI Journal.
This turned out to be a terrible misuse of funds (my first year on the
Board, the Journal came in at 100% over budget) and is the reason why the
current Amendment now prohibits Board members to hire themselves to provide
services for ARI. The Journal was used as a political whipping mechanism
for those who disagreed with the Board majority during the Closure debates
and after. I strongly suggest that we do NOT approve this amendment. If a
Board member wants to be hired by ARI, let them resign. We've seen misuse
of this in the past. I realize it's probably too late to bring this up,
and I'm sure there is no harm intended....
vote and vote against Amendment #1.
I don't see a problem with the other Amendments.
